JP International School arranged a Career Counselling Rendevous on Wednesday, February 07, 2024, for the senior graders, with Dr. Pervin Malhotra, the country’s most widely read career columnist and career counselor and Mr. Zubin Malhotra, to provide guidance and support in exploring potential career paths. The session aimed to assist students in understanding their interests, strengths, and aspirations, and to provide them with resources and strategies for making informed career decisions.
The session began with lamp lighting by Dr. Pervin Malhotra, Mr. Zubin Malhotra, the Principal Ms. Ruby Chandel, followed by a brief speech by the Principal, Ms. Ruby Chandel, highlighting the objective of this session.
The speaker, Dr. Pervin Malhotra started the session with a couple of activities to create a comfortable and interactive environment. Through guided exploration of various career options, she introduced the audience to different industries, job roles, and educational pathways. Real-life examples were also shared to inspire and motivate the students.
In her speech, Dr. Malhotra encouraged students to set short-term and long-term career goals based on their interests and aspirations, while Zubin Malhotra explained the use and the importance of self-assessment tools, such as interest inventories and skills assessments to identify their strengths, interests, and values and then consider actionable steps to work towards their goals. The question –answer session facilitated direct interaction between the audience and the speakers wherein the speakers addressed the uncertainties, the students and the parents have and clarified their doubts regarding the choice of streams.
The session concluded with a review of available resources, including career counseling services, online tools, and informational websites.
The session was chaired by the JPIS Principal, Ms. Ruby Chandel and was attended by the staff members, the students of JPIS and their parents. The session provided students with valuable insights, tools, and resources to navigate their career exploration journey effectively.
